May the Servers Be With You! Newsflash: They Already Are.
May 6, 2025Hey guys,
Originally, we were planning to take YoPrint down for a couple of hours on May 10th for a scheduled upgrade.
Well, change of plans. Here’s what happened.
We were all set to do things by the book this weekend—planned downtime, announcements, the whole shebang. But then, our old server started acting sus. We didn’t think it would survive the week, and we weren’t about to let you go through another ultra slow day.
So the downtime we planned for the 10th? Yeah, not happening. RIP old servers.
Instead, we moved fast and got the new database up and running. And we’re happy to say: as of May 5th, the new setup is already live and stable. We deployed it in the middle of night (US time) for minimal interruption.
Just how much faster? In simple terms that the marketing team understands: a lot.
The new setup is about 40–50% faster when it comes to the kind of work YoPrint does behind the scenes. More memory, more power, and a lot more breathing room for your growing business. You’ll feel the difference—especially during peak hours.
So far, we’re happy to report that the servers are running great!
For the fun of it, here’s a side-by-side comparison of the old and new servers:
Metric | Intel Xeon-E 2136 (Old) | Intel Xeon-E 2288G (New) |
---|---|---|
Cores/Threads | 6 Cores / 12 Threads | 8 Cores / 16 Threads |
Base Clock Speed | 3.3 GHz | 3.7 GHz |
Boost Clock Speed | 4.5 GHz | 5.0 GHz |
Memory | 64 GB ECC 2666 MHz | 128 GB ECC 2666 MHz |
Single-Thread Perf. | ~2,550 | ~2,950 |
CPU Mark (Overall) | ~12,000 | ~18,000 |
Multi-Thread Perf. | Up to 40% slower | Up to 50% faster |
We’ve only moved the database so far, but over the next few weeks, we’ll be migrating the rest of YoPrint to the new servers. This will be zero-downtime deployment but we’ll do it during minimal traffic, just in case. If anything changes, we’ll definitely keep you in the loop!
Thanks for bearing with us—and for being such a key part of the YoPrint journey.
