A Better Shippo Label Workflow in YoPrint
Creating a shipping label is one of those places where small bits of friction add up quickly.
You need the right sender and recipient, the right package, the right ship date, the right account, and the right rate. If an address looks off, a rate is stale, or a carrier cannot support the shipment shape, your team should see that clearly before anyone buys a label.
We have updated the Shippo label and shipping-estimate workflow in YoPrint to make those decisions easier to review in one place. This update also includes safer saved-address handling, so address edits are less likely to change the context on older records by accident.
What changed
The Create Shipping Label, Create Shipping Estimate, and Edit Estimate flows now use a cleaner YoPrint dialog with clearer sections for sender, recipient, shipment details, packages, rates, and actions.
The goal is not to make shipping more complicated. It is to put the details your team already checks into a layout that is easier to scan before you fetch rates, save an estimate, or purchase a label.
You will see clearer handling for:
- sender and recipient addresses
- shipment date, time, reference, and signature options
- optional third-party billing accounts
- saved boxes, custom boxes, and Shippo package templates
- standard and Saturday delivery rates
- stale rates when shipment details change
- carrier availability when a shipment shape is not valid for every carrier
- saved-address edits when other records already use that address
Compare standard and Saturday delivery rates
Saturday delivery is now treated as its own rate lane in the Shippo rates panel.
When Shippo returns Saturday delivery options, YoPrint separates them from standard rates so your team can compare the choices without mixing everything into one list. The rates panel also shows rate counts, carrier filters, Cheapest and Fastest sorting, refresh context, and Shippo notes when those messages are returned.
That makes it easier to answer the real shop-floor question: "Which shipping option should we use for this order?"
See address warnings before they turn into surprises
YoPrint now shows Shippo address validation feedback inside the label workflow.
If Shippo flags an address, YoPrint can show the warning in the sender or recipient card. When Shippo returns a recommended version of the address, your team can choose to use it.
These warnings are advisory. They help your team catch likely address issues earlier, but they do not block rate fetching by themselves.
Safer saved-address edits with Smart Save
Shipping depends on addresses, but addresses also show up across older orders, shipments, invoices, customer records, and purchasing workflows.
Smart Save helps protect that history when your team edits a saved customer or custom address. When you save, YoPrint checks whether other records already use that address. If none do, your edits update it in place. If some do, YoPrint keeps those records on their saved address and makes your edits the new current address for future use.
That means a needed address cleanup can move forward without silently changing the address context on older work.
Choose packages faster
The package picker now supports more package sources in one searchable control:
- Custom packages
- Your saved YoPrint boxes
- Package templates saved in Shippo
- Carrier package templates returned by Shippo
That means your team can start from the package source that fits the shipment instead of manually rebuilding the same dimensions every time.
Get clearer carrier-specific guidance
Different carriers support different shipment shapes. YoPrint now gives clearer guidance when the current package setup affects which returned rates can be selected.
For example, FedEx rates can remain visible but unavailable when a shipment has more packages than FedEx supports in this flow. UPS can remain available up to YoPrint's existing package cap when Shippo returns otherwise valid UPS rates.
The practical benefit is simple: your team sees why a carrier option is unavailable instead of getting a vague no-rates result or discovering the problem later in the label process.
Where to find it
You can open the updated Shippo workflow from a sales order shipment.
Open the sales order, find the Shipment card, then open the shipment row. From the shipment view, use Create Label or View All Estimates to continue into the updated Shippo workflow.
Smart Save appears when you edit saved customer or custom addresses in supported YoPrint address dialogs. There is no separate setup step; the message appears in the address editor when YoPrint can protect older records during save.
This update is about making the shipping decision easier to trust before the label is purchased or the estimate is saved, and making address edits safer when a saved address is already part of your shop history.
